We travelled a lot over the holiday to spend loads of time with friends and family. We kind of live in the middle of everyone – we’re about an hour and a half (give or take) away from each group: both sets of parents, my sister & her husband (and daughter).. and a little further still from my grandparents. Christmas (and most holidays) have us travelling to catch up with both sides, and this year with Kasper was no different.
Christmas has come & gone for another year. This always makes me sad; it means new years is soon and another year comes to a close.
It was our little man’s first festive season & the hubby and I were super excited. We didn’t want to set up crazy expectations for future Christmases, so we gifted more useful items – food pouches, soothers & soother straps, a touque because it’s super cold here, and the like. Of course there was a toy or two from us, but extended family definitely spoiled him in that department.
Little man got a good few developmental toys – alphabets, shape blocks, a toy to promote crawling. My parents surprised both their grandbabies (my niece & my son) with a sled each! Hubby has already added straps and a buckle, and we took little man for a stroll down the street & back. It was quite blustery that day, so we didn’t stay out too long.
I mentioned on my last post that U waa hoping to have enough time to make mommy & me matching outfits. I’m happy to announce that i finished them just in time. I didn’t get a great photo, but I did snap this on my phone:
I used the Alleycat Romper pattern from Lil&Luxe for Kasper’s duds and I used the SFR pattern from Patterns for Pirates for my shirt.
I can see many more of each in my sewing future! Stick around for more photos and sewing projects!

Well I hate to say it, but Christmas 2016 went by in a blur. As i’m sure it did last year and the year before that. I still can’t believe that after all of the build up and excitement, its all over!
**warning in advance: not a short post!** Continue reading Feeling Festive?
Occasionally I feel the need to bake for the festive season. Not for any one person in particular, but it’s fun to bring treats to various gatherings. Continue reading Christmas Cookies
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting my friend & her toddler at the mall yesterday. I drove up the mountain (escarpment) after work to get a bit of Christmas shopping done while we were there.
Unfortunately my friend’s little one is muddling through a bit of a cold? but she was in good spirits & had a nice treat of apple juice while we strolled.
I think we walked for easily 90 minutes with a random stop here & there. I do my absolute best not to purchase anything for myself in the month of December, but with my belly fast expanding I’ve had to cave & buy some maternity tights & one pair of maternity workout capris.
At the mall yesterday I “splurged” on a Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean lip chap and a box of oatmeal bath sprinkles. It seems that no matter how much I moisturize, my skin is just dry & itchy. I can tell you that it was quite the treat to myself to have a nice warm bath with the oatmeal to soothe my skin (and the cat was pretty excited about it too & kept me company on the side of the tub).
I purchased two regular sized cinnamon buns from the Cinnabon kiosk at the mall for the hubby and I to enjoy & a box of small buns for my friend to take home. They are get husband’s favourite treat and he was very pumped to have them.
All in all it was a wonderful & productive trip to the mall. I got to catch up with a great friend & I picked up a Christmas gift ♡ only one item left to snag & one parcel to pick up then im done!
On that happy note, I leave you with a picture of an adorable 6 month sized onesie that my amazing coworker jusy gifted to me for the nugget:
Every Christmas since my hubby has been working at his current job, a group of doctors put on a fancy Christmas dinner for the staff and their spouses.
